Ayon Baxter born in St. Mary, Jamaica W. I. is a scientist at heart and has worked in the fields of Electronics and Telecommunications for over 25 years. He is a musician, songwriter, and vocalist, who enjoys many genres of music, especially Christian music. Reading, photography, and..., yes, you guessed right, writing is among his favourite things to do. He likes to write about his inspirations, thoughts, and motivations, and for many years, he'd had the dream of becoming an author.
He started out writing short stories, poems, and many articles on various religious topics, doctrines, and social issues. Eventually, in 2010, he embarked on writing his first edition, entitled “My World Or His?” which he published at WestBow Press in January of 2014. In 2012, he joined the Toastmasters International program to improve his public speaking and presentation skills.
Ayon Baxter is a man of humble beginnings who grew up in a Christian home with his mother, stepfather, and the four youngest of his eight siblings. His mother is his greatest hero. Her strong Christian convictions and values, hard work and sacrifice, firm discipline, and continual prayers for her children, have significantly shaped and influenced his life, and eventually led to his decision to walk the path of righteousness in Jesus Christ.
Ayon’s early childhood years were very challenging. Although he grew up in a Christian religious home, there were problems and as soon as the door of opportunity to leave home was opened, “he flew the coup” as they would say. He indulged and sampled the ways of the world and soon drifted little by little away from the shore of safety into the ocean of confusion, selfishness, and greed. Nevertheless, there was a praying mother and undoubtedly many other caring people, who continued to lift him in prayers to God.
One day, like the ‘Prodigal Son’, he finally came to his senses and considered how empty and unfulfilling the ways of the world was, and he desired something more for which to live. That was when the Spirit of the Lord turned his mind and heart to God. The love of God manifested in Jesus Christ was the answer his heart was longing for. His observation was that this world had very little to offer—when compared to the multitude of unmatched blessings in God’s outstretched hands. He turned away from its temporal glitters and sparkles, and in faith, he now seeks the eternal hope of glory.
God has used the rough experiences he has had to shape him according to His will, honour, and glory—and He is still polishing him—an ongoing process. As he continues to fight with his fingers, pen and voice, he fights the good fight of faith, and encourage others to unite with him, in the army of Jesus Christ, to win battles over sin by God’s grace through the righteousness of Christ.
He hopes that as you journey through his editions, you will be drawn into a closer relationship with God, as you experience more and more of Him through Jesus Christ–Lord over all—and Saviour of all humanity. May you find God’s most precious blessing as you read for life.
